OUR BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY IS TO WORK WITH STRONG PARTNERS ON THE BASIS OF SHARED VALUES, A COMMITMENT TO QUALITY DELIVERY AND CLEARLY DEFINED ROLES.

During 2004, after an international competition, John Laing set up a ground breaking co-investment partnership with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia targeted to jointly deliver £300 million of project equity investment in the European Roads and UK Health sectors over three to five years.

We are also equal partners with HBOS in ExcellCare – delivering LIFT schemes – and ExcellLearn – now bidding on the emerging Building Schools for the Future programme.

During 2004, our construction partners for projects in the construction phase included Laing O’Rourke, Skanska, Mowlem, Costain and Wates amongst others, while lead service partners have included Serco, Interserve, ISS and Amey.

We also began bidding in co-operation with new partners in both the UK and elsewhere; these included AMEC, Bilfinger Berger, Hochtief, Intertoll and Vinci.

AS A PROJECT DEVELOPER AND INVESTOR, JOHN LAING AIMS TO ASSEMBLE THE MOST COMPETITIVE LINE UP FOR EACH SPECIFIC OPPORTUNITY PUT TO THE MARKET BY PUBLIC AUTHORITIES.

We also have a strong preference for forming ongoing partnerships which focus on the opportunities in a particular sector or public service requirement. By doing this bidding efficiencies are enhanced, best practice is transmitted from project to project and working relationships are deepened. This approach is extended to management of our supply chains and relationships with advisors, technical specialists and service sub-contractors.
