Future Service Partnerships Report

Partnerships have never been more important for local authorities. By working with other organisations in the public sector, the private sector and the community, councils can connect with more people and achieve more.

It is up to councils and their partners to find new ways of working together. The interpretation of ‘partnership’ is very fluid and it is not clear that ‘social value’ is always an integral part of the design and commissioning process when entering into new partnership arrangements.

A report called 'Future Services Partnerships' has been developed by the Local Government Information Unit (LGiU) with support from John Laing, which draws on new research carried out by the LGiU to examine current local authority partnership arrangements, identifies barriers to community investment at a local level and highlights innovative examples of current partnership working

The findings of the report will be tested with local authorities over the coming months with a view to shaping partnerships for the future.  Copies of the report are available from Michelle Morley, michelle.morley@laing.com / 0207 901 3456.
