Bid Managers

We are seeking strong Bid Managers (of all levels of experience) to join our Business Development team, working cross-sector, both UK and internationally, providing effective leadership and coordination of the bid process. You will manage a matrix team of internal and external advisors to achieve a clearly defined and deliverable bid which meets the clients requirements.

          Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop a partnership approach with client, involving all parties
  • Fully engage with the client and develop a close relationship so as to better understand their needs, requirements and  pressures, (for example, political and financial) and how to alleviate them
  • Leadership and coordination of the bid process, ensuring all parties across the team are clear of expectations and responsibilities
  • Harness, motivate and coordinate the D&B contractor, the service provider and advisors, so as to produce an integrated bid that meets the client’s requirements
  • Fully understand the risks of the project and control the transfer of those risks, working with the Commercial Manager to deliver a commercially viable solution
  • Proactively manage sign off procedures and processes; establish budgets and control expenditure
  • Take responsibility for final bid submission in compliance with the client’s requirements, with the support of proposals staff
  • Involvement in negotiation of contracts to financial close

         Skills and Experience Required:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent
  • A financial qualification would be an advantage, though not essential
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution would be an advantage, though not essential
  • Experience and evidence of team leadership is vital, although not necessarily PFI related
  • Successful track record of managing / taking a key role in a winning bid team, including previous expereince of contractual agreements
  • Knowledge of payment mechanisms and their applications
  • Proficient in IT applications
  • Ability to work under pressure, leading a programme to a deadline and being able to absorb information, comprehending it in short time span
  • Commercial acumen and negotiating ability, inculding an energetic and competitive desire to achieve
  • A team player and leader, with excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
  • The ability to fully engage clients, building effective networks
