Staff commitment

In 2007, John Laing launched two schemes to encourage our staff to get fully involved in CSR activities.

The first, has required every member of staff to sign up to a personal CSR objective as part of their annual appraisal.  Activities range from individual effort for example, helping a charity with specialist advice, or team activities, such as planting trees at a local school. Click on the PDF below to read some examples of what our staff have achieved. 

The second was the launch of the Chief Executive’s awards for innovation in CSR.  All members of staff are invited to nominate themselves or colleagues, either as individuals or as a team to be considered for an award.  There are nine categories, eight of which correspond to our CSR workstreams, and the ninth is a special award for the person that has made the most outstanding contribution to CSR. 

Winners will be able to chose a charity to receive a donation of £1,000 and will receive gift vouchers for their own use.  The winner of the Chief Executive’s special award, will see £10,000 donated to their chosen charity, plus will have the opportunity to spend one-week working on a charitable project of their choice.  We will be posting information on the scheme in 2008 when the first scheme is completed.
