UK PFI/PPP Sectors

According to PPP Forum, since PFI began in 1992 over 400 projects (to 8th February 2006), with individual capital values of over £15 million and a combined total of over £45 billion, have been signed. 300 projects, totalling over £37 billion capital value, are complete and operational.

The major sectors for UK PFI projects include the building / refurbishment and operation of:

Healthcare

Acute hospitals
Primary care (GP and dental practises, nursing, etc.)
Social healthcare facilities (welfare provision, etc.)

Education

Primary, secondary and special schools
Colleges

Transport

Roads
Tunnels and bridges
Street lighting
Highway maintenance
Rail

Defence and justice

Government body facilities
Police stations and training facilities

Social housing and community centres

Waste disposal facilities

Laing is actively participating in all of the above sectors.
