Home > Corporate & social responsibility > Laing’s Charitable Trust > Current Assets & Budget Current Assets & BudgetThe current asset value of the Trust is approximately £40.0 million (as at January 2005) made up of a mixture of Fixed Interest, UK and Overseas Unit Trusts, Corporate Bonds and shares. In addition the Trust owns the original house built by John Laing in 1848 which is currently let to The Salvation Army at a pepper corn rent. These combined assets realise an income of approximately £1.5 million. It is the Trustees policy to spend the income on a yearly basis. In recent years the Trustees have budgeted to spend more than the expected income for the forthcoming year. Any underspend is carried forward and added to the following years proposed expenditure. The budget and priorities for the following year is set in November.
