Norway opens first PPP road

The first PPP road in Norway, the E39, was officially opened to traffic on 1 July 2005, some two months ahead of schedule.

John Laing consortium reaches financial close on Finnish E18 motorway project

John Laing plc (John Laing) has today announced that a consortium consisting of Laing Roads, Skanska Infrastructure Development AB from Sweden and Lemminkäinen Corporation from Finland has reached financial close on the €299m E18 Muurla–Lohja Motorway Project. John Laing will invest approximately £8m in the concession company, representing a 41% interest.

John Laing plc ('Laing') announces today that it has sold, via a transfer of its interest in the M40 Limited Partnership, 50% of the capital of UK Highways M40 (Holdings) Limited ('M40') to the Secondary Market Investment Fund ('SMIF') for £26.25 million in cash. Following the transaction Laing will hold a 50% stake in the M40 project and will retain asset management control.

Sirhowy Enterprise Way Ltd, a consortium made up of Laing Roads, a division of John Laing Plc, and Costain Engineering & Construction Ltd, a division of Costain Group Plc has signed a £38 million pound agreement with Caerphilly County Borough Council to build and improve roads in the heart of the Sirhowy Valley. Laing and Costain have an equal share in the consortium.

 In one of the quickest transactions yet seen in the European PPP market, Orkdalsvegen, a consortium formed by Laing Roads (a division of John Laing Plc) and Skanska BOT, has reached financial close with the Vegdirektoratet, Norway’s state roads agency, for the first Norwegian PPP roads project. The project, the E39 between Klett and Bardshaug, near Trondheim, is the main arterial road for the western part of Norway.
