The station became operational in July 2003 and fully operational in January 2004. It is one of four in South-East London to be completed under a partnership between Equion, a division of John Laing plc, and the Metropolitan Police Authority, as part of a £120 million PFI project. The new building, developed and funded by Equion plc provides modern facilities and state-of-the-art technology to support the local policing strategy. For the first time, the building will accommodate various local authority partners, such as Neighbourhood Wardens, and a CCTV control room. Equion will also provide an extensive range of essential support and facilities management services, such as front desk management, custody assistants and evidence and equipment storage. John Cann, Director of Police and Criminal Justice at Equion commented: Sutton's Borough Commander, Chief Superintendent Joe Royle, said: The PFI project is part of the Metropolitan Police Authority’s wider Estates Strategy programme to modernise police facilities across the Force. -ENDS- For further details please contact Christine Jones, Tel: 020 7901 3200.
