Macquarie Infrastructure Group to join John Laing consortium for US bid

Wednesday, September 07, 2005

In July 2005, John Laing announced that, together with its partners in the DCMI
(Dulles Corridor Mobility Initiative) consortium, it had submitted a proposal to
the Virginia Department of Transportation ("VDOT") to establish a 50-year toll
road concession over the Dulles Toll Road between Washington DC and Dulles
International Airport.

John Laing is pleased to announce that Macquarie Infrastructure Group ("MIG")
has now joined the DCMI consortium. The other existing members of the consortium
include Autostrade Group, the leading European toll road operator, and IIG LLC,
a transport infrastructure development company based in Virginia.

MIG is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange with a market capitalization of
US$6.5 billion. It is one of the leading developers and owners of toll roads in
the world, and holds interests in 13 roads in six countries.

Andy Friend, Chief Executive of John Laing plc, said:
"I am delighted that MIG is joining our consortium. They have extensive
experience of toll road projects and will add considerable strength to an
already competitive proposal."
