Aylesbury Vale Parkway

A new station, known as Aylesbury Vale Parkway, is to be built three km north west of Aylesbury town station, next to the A41 and a major new housing development at Berryfields. The £12 million project also includes the upgrading of railway track and the building of a new bus based park and ride linking to the town centre via the A41.

The existing track, which is currently only used by freight trains, will be upgraded to enable it to take passenger trains as well, and new signalling equipment will be installed.

This will enable Chiltern Railways’ passenger trains to provide a direct service between Aylesbury Vale Parkway, Aylesbury and other stations, including Amersham, Rickmansworth, Harrow and London Marylebone.

Parking for up to 500 cars will be provided as part of the combined facility and it is expected that there will be a throughput of about 250,000 people each year.

Financial close for the project was reached in August 2007 and the first phase of the construction is expected to be complete in March 2008. It is proposed that the facilities management provider will be John Laing Integrated Services, who will maintain all structures, the car park and the drainage system.
