Gordon & Leslie Diamond Health Care Centre Vancouver Hospital, Canada

1 February 2007 saw the completion of John Laing’s acquisition of Access Health Vancouver (AHV), the company selected to design, build, finance and maintain the C$95 million centre. This transfer of ownership will consolidate responsibility for the completion of construction and the long-term facilities management of this project into the hands of John Laing with its in-depth expertise in the project management of construction and facilities and property management in public private partnership (P3) projects. The AHV concession is for 30 years.

AHV was established to deliver cost savings and innovation in design, construction and property management of the new healthcare facilities.

AHV provides non-clinical services, such as security, parking and property management and facilities management services through Brookfield LePage Johnson Controls (BLJC).

The Gordon and Leslie Diamond Health Care Centre is owned by Vancouver Coastal Health, which provides all clinical services. The Health Care Centre is part of the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine based at Vancouver General Hospital.

The Gordon and Leslie Diamond Health Care Centre reached substantial completion on 18 August 2006 and was completed on time and on budget.

This is one of John Laing’s first two investments in the Canadian market.
