Realising that its aging estate would not best support the aims and needs of 21st century policing, Cleveland Police chose a consortium of John Laing, HBoS and RSTM to design, construct and manage two district headquarters and two town centre police stations.
Middlesbrough police district HQ is the gateway project for the regeneration of the St Hilda’s area of the town and will include a 24 hour police station, a centralised property store and a 50 cell custody unit, including a state of the art Prevention of Terrorism suite.
The Redcar and Cleveland district HQ is on a regenerated site in Langbaurgh which will house an open all hours community access police station and two town police stations at Redcar and South Bank have the latest innovations in technology and will be local bases for neighbourhood policing.
Laing O’Rourke was the design and build contractor for the £26.8 million construction project, while Reliance Secure Task Management and HBoS were the equity partners in this PPP project. Reliance also supplies the hard and soft facilities management.
