South East London Police Stations

Lewisham police station in south east London, thought to be Europe’s largest, was developed by John Laing as part of a PPP project to build four police stations for the Metropolitan Police.

Police stations were designed and built at Sutton, Bromley, Lewisham and Deptford for Borough operations, Mounted Branch and the Serious Crime division that formed an £80 million construction project.  This is now fully operational providing 34,000 square metres of internal space, including 96 custody cells and stabling for 24 horses.

Both hard and soft facilities management are provided under a 25 year contract by John Laing Integrated Services that includes front office staff, custody assistants, property officers, typists along with cleaning, catering, security and building maintenance.
