The Trust owns the original house built by John Laing in 1848 and this is let to the Salvation Army at a peppercorn rent.
These combined assets realise an income of approximately £1.5 million. It is the Trustees policy to spend the income annually. In recent years the Trustees have budgeted to spend more than the expected income for the forthcoming year. Any under-spend is carried forward and added to the following year’s proposed expenditure.
The budget and priorities for the following year is set in November.
