Analyst

John Laing is growing its market leading infrastructure investment business in the UK, in to the United States.  We are recruiting a team to develop our business across the US, based from our office in White Plains, New York.  In joining us you will have the opportunity to be part of a new venture, supported by established and successful teams in London, as we bid for P3 Infrastructure projects in North America. We are recruiting locally at all levels, and we are flexible as to your background, be it technical or construction focussed, commercial or project finance focussed.   

Working with Senior / Investment Managers, the Analyst will assist in the development of P3 / PPP opportunities in North America.  Principally providing support with bidding activities, the role may also include involvement in the management of live investments and acquisition of projects.

The Role:

• Provide executive support to the bid team and advisers through the tendering process, from pre-qualification and bid preparation through to appointment as preferred bidder and financial close
• For financially orientated staff:- building and analysing financial models for bids or for the appraisal of investment opportunities; evaluating alternative project financial structures, identifying funders etc
• For staff with construction/operational orientation: - analysing key technical/operational aspects for bids to optimise structure e.g. pricing/risk, etc
• Monitoring the bidding process including budgets and expenditure and programming timetables
• Ensure tender submissions are compliant with the client’s requirements
• Deputising for  the Investment Manager at project meetings
• Depending on the project location, there will be a need for significant travel within the US, and to co-locate within project offices, away from home, at key stages of bidding activity as agreed with partners

Skills and Experience Required:

• Analytical or financial modelling skills
• Practical experience in the (project) finance OR construction sectors
• P3 / PPP knowledge desirable
• Ability to build relationships with partners and external clients
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently
• Strong communicator with excellent report writing skills
• Ability to work under pressure, as part of a dead lined programme
• A flexible approach to undertaking a variety of tasks, in new situations
• Keen to be involved in a growing business
