Quantity Surveyor

We are looking for a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join the Project Delivery team, within John Laing Projects and Developments (JLPD), providing commercial management in relation to project feasibility, tendering, contract administration, measurement, project cost control, variations and valuations.

Responsibilities Include:

• Assist with the provision of commercial advice in relation to feasibility and estimating of projects
• Assist in preparation of tender documentation, including selection of tenderers, collation of tender documents, evaluation of return tenders, participation in risk assessments, preparation of activity schedules, advise on contractual completions
• Assist in the provision of timely, accurate and concise contract management and cost monitoring information together with providing contractual advice to Project Managers on contractual and commercial elements of a contract
• Assist in identifying areas of contractual risk and minimising that risk for JLPD
• Assist in the timely production of interim and final accounts and project management reports
• Discuss interim certificates and final accounts with clients and contractors in accordance with authority for approval
• Assess and value Variation Orders and approve in accordance with approval authority
• Prepare reports on Valuations, Variations and Claims for authorisation by the Commercial Manager
• Assist in the preparation of Project Management Reports, specifically in relation to cost, cost forecasting, accruals and provisions

          Skills and Experience Required:

• Degree qualified, ideally in Quantity Surveying and/or an equivalent qualification, including proven, post qualification experience in a civil engineering, building or rail quantity surveying environment
• Broad knowledge of basic forms of contract including NEC3 and JCT, demonstrating a good understanding of project costs, contract and commercial administration
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
