Rail Infrastructure

We are at the forefront of rail infrastructure and station development, and seek to create regeneration opportunities around railway stations, which help to fund new, state-of-the-art facilities.

We have led developments that have seen three new railway stations developed, bringing rail infrastructure to the heart of communities. Warwick Parkway was the first station on the UK rail network not to have been delivered by Network Rail or its predecessors. Undertaken in partnership with Warwickshire County Council (WCC), the ‘Park and Ride' station opened in 2000 and quickly brought benefits to the local community, easing congestion on the local roads caused by a shortage of parking at Leamington and Warwick stations and providing quicker links to London for local businesses.

To the north of Birmingham, we repeated this success with Coleshill Parkway, a new ‘interchange' catering for rail and bus travellers, again in partnership with WCC. The station, opened 2007, serves the town of Coleshill, employment areas around Hams Hall and provides a public transport connection to Birmingham International Airport. Aylesbury Vale Parkway outside Aylesbury is now also operational, linking the growing population in the town's major Berryfields development with London and the rest of the network.

We have carried out a number of major infrastructure projects for Chiltern Railways, including Project Evergreen 2, which saw private capital used to fund major rail infrastructure work for the first time. We completed the project on programme and nearly 10% below budget. Other projects include the development and construction of a new depot at Wembley, enhancements to Aylesbury Depot and numerous station enhancements to improve the safety, ambiance and capacity of many of Chiltern's stations.

We are also applying our skillset to other development related infrastructure projects such as carparks and airports.

Our investment in the infrastructure of the Lewisham extension of Docklands Light Railways demonstrates our appetite for working with transport authorities to develop long term Public Private Partnerships for the funding and delivery of new rail infrastructure. Utilising this experience we are currently pursuing a number of major rail infrastructure projects both in the UK and overseas.
