Business in the Community is one of The Prince's Charities and inspires, engages, supports and challenges companies to continually improve the impact they have on society and the environment. This is achieved by working through four key areas: Community, Environment, Marketplace and Workplace; and embedding corporate social responsibility into the very heart of the business.

In 2009 John Laing attained the CommunityMark.The Standard Mark has been awarded for a three year period in recognition of the excellence achieved in our Community Investment Programme.

With more than 850 companies in membership with Business in the Community, John Laing has supported this unique movement since its inception 27 years ago. Our commitment to improving our positive impact on society has received great recognition, obtaining the Silver Big Tick Award for the Company's continued support of Trafford Hall.

We are pleased to announce that In 2009 we reached the Gold Band of the Corporate Responsibility Index, this is an excellent result for us and reflects all of the good work being done by John Laing and its' employees and follows on from the Silver Award we received in 2008 and the Bronze Award in 2007.

Results of all of the CR Index participants were published in the Financial Times Responsible Business Supplement on Monday 7 June 2010.
