British Trust for Conservation Volunteers manages environmental conservation projects, which inspire people into improving places. In doing so BTCV ensure the volunteers develop an understanding of their self worth as they become involved in community projects and included within the project teams.
John Laing are committed to supporting BTCV's activities with young people. BTCV's youth programmes provide opportunities that encompass community service and environmental benefit, coupled with education, training and personal development.
Through the Charitable Trust, John Laing has agreed to fund six BTCV Green Gym Conversions in areas local to our projects or investments.
These conversions operate by upgrading existing conservation and environmental community groups to formal Green Gyms, which link to the local health care trusts. The purpose of Green Gyms is to encourage individuals with physical or mental health issues to undertake physical work outdoors, thus improving their overall wellbeing whilst contributing towards environmental enhancement. This creates a sustainable approach, offering benefits to both the local community and the surrounding natural resources.
