A15 Motorway, Netherlands
The A-Lanes A15, a consortium comprising John Laing, Strabag AG, Ballast Nedam Concessies BV and Strukton Integrale Projecten BV is currently managing the construction phase on the A15 Maasvlakte – Vaanplein PPP project. Financial Close was achieved on 14 December 2010.
Please see below a video of the installation of the first deck of the Botlek Bridge, which forms part of the A15 motorway.
The project involves the widening of the existing motorway, and the construction of a new Botlek bridge. The project has a nominal value of approximately €1.5 billion, in which the consortium will be responsible for the design, construction, financing and maintenance.
The consortium was announced preferred bidder in September 2010 by the client (the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management of the Netherlands Rijkswaterstaat) and construction is expected to complete at the end of 2015, when the 20-year availability period will start.
The widening of the A15 between Maasvlakte and Vaanplein is based on the A15 Maasvlakte - Vaanplein Transport Infrastructure Planning Procedure Act, and provides approximately 40 km of road widening. The project will deal with the entire stretch from Maasvlakte to Vaanplein in a bid to keep the port area and the surrounding residential areas accessible and safe. The new Botlek bridge will be wider and taller, thus shortening road traffic waiting time for an open bridge.
