Nordergrunde Offshore Wind Farm, Germany
The Nordergrunde wind farm is located in the German North Sea, 18km north of Wilhelmshaven, and is John Laing’s first offshore investment. The wind farm consists of 18 M126 turbines for a total capacity of 110.7MW and benefits from the German feed-in tariff mechanism. Since 2022, it has been listed as part of Germany's critical infrastructure.
With the acquisition of a 30 per cent stake in 2016, alongside Skyborn Renewables, one of the biggest German wind developers. John Laing has been actively involved in the construction, successfully reaching commissioning late 2017 and now in its operation, which has been contracted with DWT, a non-OEM operator in the wind offshore business.
