John Laing, the international investor and manager of infrastructure projects, is delighted to announce it has won two prestigious accolades at the 2014 PFI Awards in two categories: ‘Global Financial Sponsor of the Year’ and ‘Americas Transport Deal of the Year’ for the I-4 Ultimate Project in Florida.

The I-4 Ultimate Project in Florida is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) highway project – commissioned by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and led by the I-4 Mobility Partners consortium (comprising John Laing and Skanska Infrastructure Development). Under a PPP, the consortium will design, build, finance, operate and maintain the new section of the highway over a 40-year concession term. The project has a capital expenditure value of USD $2.3bn and is designed to reduce congestion and provide additional capacity along a busy 21 mile section of Interstate 4, one of Florida’s most important highways. John Laing has invested a 50% share in the project, making it joint equity investor and manager for the project. Construction begun in February 2015 and completion of the project is anticipated in 2021.

Olivier Brousse, CEO of John Laing, said: "2014 has been a record year for John Laing in terms of investment commitments, thanks to the hard work of our teams around the world, and we are delighted that our expertise has been recognised by the wider industry."

The PFI Awards, which this year were held on 4th February in London, recognise outstanding performance and commitment within the project finance community.
