Horath Wind Farm, Germany
Horath Wind Farm is located in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, north of the village of Horath. John Laing acquired the wind farm in October 2016, shortly after commissioning. The wind farm consists of 9 V112 3.3MW for a total installed capacity of 29.7 MW and benefits from the German feed-in tariff mechanism.
The wind farm has been developed on a mountain ridge, at an altitude of c.450m-560m above sea level, with the turbines erected in a forest, surrounded by trees 20m-25m high. Those site conditions required careful planning and infrastructure during the construction, which remains in place after commissioning with active management to optimise the operation.
