18-mile western bypass of Tuscaloosa crossing the Black Warrior River. A primary commercial trucking route for the south-east US, also serving University of Alabama traffic.

Crosses the Tallapoosa River connecting Elmore County with the Montgomery metropolitan area. Operational since 1994, providing an alternative to congested Highway 231.
